A BRIEF FROM TELSTRA IN 2018

Working in a small embedded team of 6 at Telstra’s Sydney office, we were tasked to create a design system for Telstra to enable the design community to create consistent experiences that feel connected and express the brand purpose across an evolving set of products, services in digital.

Of the 20+ applications Telstra has, only four have style guides or standards, and these are manually updated as static websites, PDF’s or wiki pages. They lack a consistent format, all live in separate locations and contain inconsistent standards. Through the development of the Telstra Design System, we must address the challenges presented by the existing identity guidelines within the digital environment.

Design direction

Light in Motion, uses the luminosity, vibrancy, colour, mood and photography associated with Telstra Brand deliver an inclusive and accessible experience. This direction emphasises flow and way-finding, whilst promoting scalability and flexibility within a system that can be personalised at scale.
